Colombia's Environmental Problems
Colombia's leading environmental struggle is deforestation. According to a research conducted by United Nations in 2003, Colombia loses 2,000 km2 of forest annually because of deforestation. According to a study in 2008, the numbers may even increase as time passes. The destruction of Colombian rainforests include illegal logging, mining, a construction called PTI that connects the atlantic and pacific ocean, ranching, and even the production of cocaine. Air pollution in the country is also foreseen as a problem .
